To make understanding the CrossFit lingo a little easier for you, we have a list of acronyms, phrases and slang words heard in a CrossFit gym and their definitions.

  • 10 seconds: The countdown time before the workout commences

  • AHAP: As Heavy As Possible

  • AMRAP: As Many Rounds (or Reps) As Possible

  • Buy In/Buy Out: The movements performed before and after the main workout

  • C&J: Clean and Jerk

  • Cals: Calories (on the Rower, Ski Erg or Bike Erg)

  • C2B: Chest to Bar Pull-Ups

  • DB: Dumbbell

  • EMOM: Every Minute On The Minute

  • HSPU: Handstand Push-Up

  • KB: Kettlebell

  • MU: Muscle-Ups

  • OH: Overhead

  • PR: Personal Record

  • Rep: Repetition

  • RX: Abbreviation for "prescribed," workout performed exactly as written

  • 1RM: 1 Rep Max

  • SDHP: Sumo Deadlift High Pull

  • Set: A number of repetitions

  • TTB: Toes-to-Bar

  • WOD – Workout Of the Day
